Rush FAQ
Is Chi Phi’s recruitment formal or informal?
Fraternity rush at the University of Wisconsin is a hybrid – Formal 2 weeks then 4 weeks Informal. For Chi Phi, and other Wisconsin fraternities, formal recruitment starts with Sept 1-7th (IFC Open house Events). Then Sept 8- 12th (Individual Chapter Events), followed by Bid day on September 17th. We currently do not have any active members of Kappa of Chi Phi.
What recruitment events does Chi Phi host?
As a returning chapter in Fall 2025, Chi Phi will host a variety of informal events designed to foster meaningful conversations. These will likely include events such as informational sessions, dinners, and casual social gatherings where you can meet and interact with the founding brothers. A detailed schedule will be released closer to the fall recruitment period.
How does recruitment at the University of Wisconsin operate?
The University of Wisconsin has a fraternity recruitment period at the beginning of each fall semester that is governed by the Interfraternity Council (IFC).
Whom do I contact to get involved in recruitment?
Our on the ground Chi Phi lead is Destry Nelson at [email protected] and any general questions can be emailed to [email protected]. Specific contact information will be made available once we’re closer to the recruitment date.
Someone who is interested in Chi Phi can get in touch with Destry Nelson or contact us, @WiscoChiPhi Instagram.
What does our chapter look for in a recruit?
Chi Phi holds its members to a high standard of character, based on our core values of Truth, Honor, and Personal Integrity. We look for well-rounded men who demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement, leadership, and making a positive contribution to their community.
What if one of my relatives is a Chi Phi?
Chi Phi takes pride in having legacies join the fraternity. We are happy to continue to instill the values of Chi Phi across families. Although being a legacy doesn’t ensure a recruit will get a bid, it makes Chi Phi increasingly more interested in getting to know the recruit. We only will give bids to recruits that we feel will reflect the values of Chi Phi in their daily lives.
